The Digital Signage Success Story of Metzgerei Mayer

A family, three generations, and almost 50 years of joy working in the butcher trade. Metzgerei Mayer from Ilsfeld looks back on a long-standing butcher tradition. In 2021, the managing directors Tobias Fichtel and Frank Mayer decided to take a major step towards modernization & digitalization.

Tobias Fichtel reports:

"We previously had normal poster advertising in the store, which means that in our sales area, we only advertised current offers. So we couldn't advertise any of our regular items. That was about 12 posters per week per store. We have two branches, so that's about 24 posters that we had to create and print every week. We already did that using a program from Wedeko, but it was all still in paper form.

We have now chosen Wedeko again because you simply offer a great overall solution. We currently use Wedeko to manage our weekly offers on the homepage and our social media photos. We have the screens in the store via Wedeko - we have integrated our carts, i.e. also screens that didn't come directly from Wedeko. We have integrated three price rails and all of that runs via the VisuScreen program.

That was the biggest visual change of all the changes we made this year. The bottom line is that you noticed that it was very well received and that if you specifically offer certain products via the screen advertising, you can drive them a little more in sales.

The operation via any device is absolutely amazing for me, you don't need to install it permanently. This means that it is always up to date. In the beginning, it's always strange when it says you can't buy anything anymore, but have to take out a subscription. But I think that's the right way to go in this day and age. The operation is super easy. You can assign permissions so that employees can also work on it without making any major mistakes or doing things that they are not allowed to do.

And what is a huge advantage for me is the connection with our merchandise management system. The Wedeko program communicates with our merchandise management system. This means that I no longer have to make any price or name changes in the program, but do everything in my economic system. And as soon as something changes there, Wedeko takes it over in the program and executes the whole thing.

The handling via Wedeko went very well. The first steps were that the company Wedeko came to our house with advice, looked at the situation on site. Then advised us in detail on what would be possible at all. There was no talk of doing it in this style at all. It developed more or less through the conversation. You only get screens from Wedeko, but you also get the complete solution, as we have it. And all of this was actually planned by Wedeko. So from the initial consultation to the project managers that Wedeko itself has, who were then on site, who coordinated the construction work. Who made the division of what you need from the electrician, where does a cable have to go everywhere. And of course also afterwards from the merging of the appointments, be it from the shop fitter, as with us now, where we also installed the screens on the counter. Or electricians, IT specialists for the merchandise management component, who then made the connection possible in the first place. Wedeko worked all of this out independently and so I can say that the process was perfect. You always had a contact person, you always only had one contact person who took care of everything."
